Accessibility Statement and Guidelines

Mobile TV World is committed to producing a website and web resources that can be accessed by all users.
Constructive suggestions for improvement are warmly welcomed.

Structure

Most of the web pages on this site are rendered visually as 4 distinct parts:

  1. A header area that includes main navigation links and site search
  2. A middle top area for sub navigation
  3. A middle area for the main content
  4. A footer area with copyright declaration and links to terms of use and privacy documents

When styles are not applied to a document or when using a screen reader, the 4 areas are read in the above order.

Skip Links

The first 3 links in every document are “Jump” links and their purpose is as follows:

  1. Jump to main content - Go directly to the main content, bypassing all preceding links
  2. Jump to main navigation - Go directly to the main naviagtion
  3. Accessibility - Go to this page, detailing features for keyboard and visually impaired users

When the site style sheets are applied, these links are hidden from view unless they receive focus.

Access Keys

These allow you to move around a website without having to use a mouse. All our pages use the following access keys to navigate main site sections:

  • Accessibility: 0
  • Home: 1
  • News: 2
  • Features: 3
  • Resources: 4
  • Forum: 5
  • Links: 6
  • About: 7
  • Contact: 8
  • Site Search: 9
  • Jump to the start of the main content (From anywhere on the page): c
  • Jump to main navigation (From anywhere on the page): n

When the target of an access key is the page you are already on, then using that key will reload the page.

PC Users

In Internet Explorer, Chrome and Safari press Alt and an access key. In Internet Explorer the focus is moved to the element on the page that uses this access key, release both keys and then press Enter to follow the link. If using the Firefox browser you should press Alt with Shift and an access key. If using the Opera browser you should press Shift with Esc to invoke the access key menu, release both keys and then press an access key.

Apple Mac Users

Support for site defined access keys may be limited and vary between browsers and browser versions - check your browsers help file.

Sizing Text or Page Zooming

All text in this site is scalable and most major browsers support text resizing.

  • In Internet Explorer 6 and Firefox 2, Text Size options are available from the View menu - Text Size.
  • In Internet Explorer 7 and 8, the Text Size option is available from the Page menu - Text Size.
  • In Firefox 3, the Text Size option is available from the View menu - Zoom .
  • In Opera use the keyboard shift with + keys to zoom in and the - key to zoom out or use the View menu - Zoom.

Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Internet Explorer versions 7 and above also support zooming the entire page. Type control with + to zoom in or control with - to zoom out, control with zero to reset. Firefox and Safari give the option of using these keys to zoom everything or just the text.

Other Accessible Features on this Site Include:

  • Links that are highlighted on focus
  • Alternative textual descriptions for content images
  • Links that open new windows use a different hover colour to normal links and have the title attribute “Link opens in new window”
    Use keyboard control with w to close a focused window.
  • Link text that make sense when read out of context
  • Title attributes which describe links in greater detail, unless the text of the link already fully describes the target
  • All form controls are appropriately and explicitly labeled
  • Email addresses are provided as an alternative means of access for online forms
  • Form validation routines that do not rely on client-side script
  • CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) for visual layout and presentation
  • Content which can still be read without style sheets or JavaScript enabled, although third party add-ons or widgets may require JavaScript to function.

We strive to ensure that pages on this site meet industry standards:

  • We are working hard to ensure that all pages on this site conform to priorities 1 and 2 of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines produced by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
  • All static pages validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict and dynamic pages as XHTML 1.0 Transitional
  • All pages on this site use structured semantic markup. For example, H1 tags are used for main content headings and H2-4 tags for section or sub headings, which means that screen readers can quickly navigate the document structure via document headings
